Certainly. That's the function and purpose of terrorism; to instill fear and intrepidation upon their target.

“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”

“If fear alters behavior, you're already defeated.”

“You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.” ~ Eric Hoffer

“Fear not your enemies, for they can only kill you.

Fear not your friends, for they can only betray you.

Fear only the indifferent, who permit the killers and betrayers

to walk safely on the earth.” ~ Edward Yashinsky

Of course! Our fear makes their actions effective. Have you ever stood back and chuckled at someone having a yelling tirade? It totally wipes the effectiveness of what they are trying to do. It strips them of their power.

If we could stop cowering in fear and tell them to do their damnedest because the USA just got back the strength it lost a few decades ago, and then treat any would-be terrorists like scum, they would stop. Send them all to Gitmo and take off the gloves, but only for real, convicted terrorists. Once word got around that Uncle Sam wasn't fun anymore they would leave us alone, which is probably why they still tend to hit other countries more often than the USA.

Our fear and precautions haven't increased our safety. It has only lost us some of our freedoms. Life is not safe. Just being alive means we will face many ways to die, and death is a very natural part of life. We cannot outwit it. We cannot avoid it. We shouldn't try to encourage it, but we should never let a fear of it dictate how we live, and this is precisely what we have been doing. I say we should chuck all the stupid precautions and enforce what laws were already on the books.

If we change anything in our daily lives or habits because of terrorists, or possible terrorist threats, then yes, we empower them. However, you're better off safe than sorry, so while we may be "empowering" them by heightening security at airports, we're actually hindering them by doing so.

Yes. That's exactly what they want- to instill fear and hopelessness. It creates an atmosphere in which they can get what they want.

But I think it's a normal to fear death. We want to LIVE.
We just can't let our fear in our hearts prevent us from what needs to be done.

ABSOLUTELY! Think of the class bully or school yard bully. What do you think drives them...... The fear of their prey! Now all terrorism is is bullying on a MUCH LARGER scale.

Good question!
