If one is propagating Islamic ideology because he is born and raised in it, wouldn’t he be doing the same thing for Christianity were he raised in the Christian faith?

Two examples that I found most amazing are people keep pressing buttons on road crossing and lifts despite knowing that by pressing more times it will not make it any faster. Any takes on what drives that behavior?

A quote from the movie 'Swordfish':

Gabriel: "Stanley, here's a scenario. You
have the power to cure all of the
world's diseases. But the price
for this is that you must kill a
single, innocent child. Could you
kill that child to save the world?"

Neitzche said that the truest test of philosophy was whether or not one could live by it. Although I have difficulty explaining what my life philosophy is I know it does not work for me. I'm a fairly reserved, decent, and good person and yet I am so utterly lonely. I have friends and family but I am still so desperately alone. I have tried to find some degree of solace in asthetics, in art, in music, in poetry and literature all in the spirit of schopenhauer; I have tried to drown and smoke it away with alcohol and drugs in the true spirit of the hedonist. I admit they work but they are all so temporary. So I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put it to you all. What works for you? Where is my soulmate? I want to live in Arcadia. I want a job where i can work with my hands and I want to die with a smile on my face clasped in her embrace. I'm still a little drunk...

I am fortunate enough to be able to give money to everyone I see begging. No, I am not rich; I am a regular working guy and I see lots of beggars, but at one time I used to withhold my generosity if I saw one of them smoking. I came to realize that charity should not be an act of controlling someone's behavior. I either give with a good heart or I don't give at all. I feel much better about my donations now that I am not concerned about what becomes of them. Do you agree?

Given that all perspectives (science, religion, etc.) represent cultural points of view rather than natural realities, why is nature (or uninterpreted reality) beyond our grasp?

Mind you i don't belive in god, but i do belive in faith. I practice twice a day and my life is better for it. Work it out and give it a go.

Can anything have a purpose within itself? If not, how can things with an external purpose have any purpose at all on a large enough scale?

Excluding "God" as a trivial cop-out solution, what might be the reason for the existing of a universe? I fear no one will ever find out. Billions have already passed through this planet, not knowing why.
If this question has no answer, lets try to answer a related one.

How long will it be and in what circumstances, that we will be able to learn the answer to the above question?

I am racist against racist people. I hate too, I hate the hate. I hate these stupid people, they are a disease. I don't care if the racists were born that way or if they chose it, it's all the same to me. They are the cause of every last one of this species' problems, of this planet's problems. I don't think there is a cure for their problem. They were given brains on accident, their existence is a mistake. Stupidity and racism cause all of the world's problems. It is the root of all that is wrong with this world. I don't mean stupid as in mentally retarded, I mean stupid as in hate-filled, intolerant, violent people that push their way of life on others and scapegoate others.

I want racist stupid people to die off, I want the law of natural selection to be imminently applied to these imbeciles. When I read the Darwin Awards, I laugh. I want the war in Iraq to go on forever, I don't want it to end. I want all of them to die. I want a racist holocaust. Is there something wrong with me?
