When I read this quote, it makes me feel that love is purely a fantasy we create in our mind. And were we to fall victim to love, we let go all sense of reason. Is this so?

Henry David Thoreau said, "Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something. "

Are you too moral? Are you cheating yourself out of life?

"I want you to question the question you're answering,
For the answer you answer, must not question the question; for that would be a question!
Instead the question must be answered by the answer you're questioning.
Otherwise that answer is questionable as to whether it answers the question at all...
Unless of course the question is answered by the question you answered, then there is no need to answer becuase the answer is answered by the question!"

This is something I am pondering on at the moment.

Self-Esteem is basicly your feelings and thoughts about yourself, and is developed throughout your life.
A low self-esteem can cause many problems like; Depression, Stress, and loneliness. This is just a very short list.
Showing Good self-esteem is to be able to feel worthiness, treating yourself right, treating others right, and so on.

Self-Respect is the respect you have for yourself as a person, or conduct. To respect is to regard, politeness, honor and positive behavior. This can be twords animals, people, and plants.
To respect yourself is to think positivly twords yourself as a person, who you are and what you are.

You know we all need self esteem and self respect to help keep us out of depression, but do you think they are basicly the same thing, or totally different?
And which one do you think we need more?

Hope to get some good answers :)

Why do well-educated women reduce to becoming physical objects, appeasing and satisfying male chauvinism?
Its ironical to see that while on one hand we hear and feel that the women are progressing on all fronts, on the other hand we see them yielding to the same male dominance and chauvinism that had them oppressed for centuries.

Why is it essential to wear bare-minimum, reduce your entire intellectual self to a physical object to appear modern, cool and appealing?

Some women argue that why we shouldn't do what guys have been doing for ages. Isn't that a very ridiculous argument? In the process of evolving and progressing, shouldn't we get intellectually better!

Nothing to defend the men, we have been wild and ugly. But deep inside, all of us have waited for that woman to come in and tame us, make us civilized.

I'm just wondering about what defines "life". Because if we made a robot that was programed to reproduce itself, learn, change according to it's surroundings, and stop functioning after a while, could we not call it "alive" and why?

I have studied most religions and have come to the conclusion that creeds or beliefs are now and then manipulated by power seeking self centered men to further their own gratification. In the 20th century we saw the growth of nazism and commuinism which were new creeds manipulated by power hungry men. All these creeds, the religions are attempts to humanise man's animal instincts.Others like political creeds, to dehumanise man.
It is nothing other than the pecking order observbed in the hunting dog packs in africa, the behaviour of the barnyard, the higher apes our closest cousins. Does all this boil down to the fact that we still are unable to overcome our inherited animal instincts? Attempts have been made by Bhudda and Jesus, w hich gave rise to two world wide religions to teach kindness and forgiveness. The basic teachings of these great masters without theattachments of marketeers that jumped on the bandwagon for various reasons are worth diligent study and applied in dayly life.
