Baby is worth less.
The one thing that gives human life worth is participation in moral community.
A human promises to do no harm to others and as a result can expect that he will not be harmed.
A baby is not a part of the moral community YET. It only has a POTENTIAL to join this community.
So a baby is worth slightly less then an Adult.

We are all equal, but I think Mother Theresa contributed to society in a better way than Ted Bundy.

Well, depends on what you mean by "worth". A child is just as valuable to society as an adult. An adult's personality is already formed, more or less, and their role in society is pretty well established. A newborn has potential to contribute far more, but hasn't yet.

And why do you need to examine someone's worth, anyway? Is one life not just as valuable as another?

One who attempts to place "worth" on life does not really value it at all. Mother Theresa, after all, started out as a baby.

The newborn is worth more. It's got more potential, more future. The adult is already halfway played-out.

I believe that all human life is valuable, however one cannot place a specific monetary value on it. Nonetheless, I also believe that as we grow, we make choices that can make us a contribution to society versus a burden on it. In that, we can attach the term worth. According to dictionary.com, one of the definitions of WORTH is "The quality that renders something desirable, useful, or valuable". So, depending on our contributions or the possibilties of future contributions, society will attach "worth" to its members.

"Worth"? None of us is born with a price tag. At the end of the days we are judged by our service to others.
