O = hug: When you draw a circle, you include whatever space around the center, inside the closed line. When you hug a person, you put your arms around them and they around you - that forms a circle.
X = kiss: The split between our lips looks like one short straight line. Two mouths would form two short straight lines. When we kiss, we do not put those two splits or lines parallel to each other, rather, one would be slanting down while the other slanting up - imagine them now on top of each other, you will see an "x" .

x is the shape of lips puckered and o is the shape when you hug someone because your hands go around the person which makes a circle

Uhhh, i read the kiss thing once... it was said that when signing with an x you had to kiss it, sort of like honoring your signiture... so now X's mean kisses. I don't know about the o's... :)~
