I've been attempting to do genealogical research recently. Interestingly, I have so far discovered that I am descended from Henry II of England. However, I have also seen a website that suggests that I could be descended from a Roman emperor, as well. I don't really see how that can be, though, because genealogical records weren't kept in ancient Rome the way they were kept among the European nobility and royalty during the Middle Ages. I can understand why there would be records linking my family to medieval English royalty, but I can't imagine that there would be records linking my family to Roman emperors.

My sons middle name is michael. I intended it to be irish as well as just like his dads. 2 years later i discover that my husbands birth certificate says micheal. everything in recent history has michael on it. this includes his military papers, the motgage, our marrage certificate and our sons birth certificate. am i just makeing a big deal out of nothing or what? i should mention that i dislike my mother in law so that would be the only person who points out the birth certificate thing. my own husband didn't even know until he needed his birth certificate. yes i know he probably needed it to get into the service. i guess he didn't notice or didn't tell me. I am a little upset but on the other hand everyone I know spells Michael with ae not ea. What does everyone else think?

I think its cool that many Jews can trace their descent to biblical figures like Aaron and King David. My family has a longstanding tradition of Davidic descent.

My ex died in California on Aug. 12, 2005, his name was Gregory Allen Porter, born June 15, 1951. I have not heard from him in several years and cannot locate any of his family to find out info on how, where, etc. he died. I have found his name in SS death index but would love to know what happened to cause him to die or even an obituary. I have searched the net for obits but have not found anything. His last place of residence was Escondido, CA. His parents were Otis and Nellie Porter. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

ok. both my parents are white, and we have family books, with pics of family memebers going way back, but me and my sis came out darker and look nothing like anyone on either sides of our family. when i was little i looked white, but when i got about 6 i started changing. for instinced, i had blonde straight hair and now i have dark dark curly thick hair. i have a roman or italian nose as people call it, and the shape and size of my eyes, people say i have asian eyes. im also way darker in skin then i was before, and im often mistaken for puerto rican and filipino. my sis on the other hand was always kinda dark, with curly thin hair, big eyes people think are arabian or middle eastern, and often is mistaken for black, or hispanic. so my question is, since we dont have any of the features, or look like anyone else in our family, could our traits come way further back then everyone else in our familys?

My Gran was married before she met my Granddad and had two daughters. Her 1st husband beat her and she left him, but he got custody of the girls. It hurt my gran too much to see them, so, being who she is, she chose to keep them a secret and hasn't seen them for years (almost 50 years since my dad is 48!). My g aunt Elaine used to keep in touch with them, but died several years ago. I found out about them about the same time, but my gran doesn't know that i know....

I have heard many people are related to these people, like I am:
I am:
-a 22nd great-grandson of King Robert the Bruce
-a 23rd great-grandson of King Edward I
-a 21st great grandson of King Edward III

But I hear relations to these people are a lot less common because they are closer in time:
I am:
-a 13th great grandson of Queen Mary Tudor,
-a 13th great grandson of Mary, Queen of Scots
-a 12th great grandson of King James I of England
-a 10th great grandson of King Charles II

I went to a genealogist, and he said I have an uncommon amount of royal ancestry compared to most people.
