I came to a complete halt on searching my family history. I have used ancestry.com website and have traced all family members back to their countries of origin. The problem i have is that i cannot continue it further. I have the names of the children born here in America through census records, but do not have the names of their parents. Can someone tell me where else i can find out what the parent's names would be?

For example, your name is Mary Jones-Smith, and your husband's is John O'Boyle-Carter. You can't name your child Britney Jones-Smith-O'Boyle-Carter, can you?
If you have personally experienced this, please share with me what you have done. I am writing an article on it. Thanks!

Specifically, I mean can the traits/ genetics thet he'd pass along to his offspring be altered as he gets older and if he was a heavy alcoholic? Someone I know has several older siblings with dark features. He and his younger brother have light features. He says his dad was "less potent"
(whatever that means- his words) as he got older and thats why he and his brother are light skinned. Does this make since to you? I'm most curious about eye and skin color.

There are boxes to check and the list is usually white, black, or "other".... A lot of places have changed the listing to be politically correct, but that is basically the "list". Sometimes there is a place to check for "asian", but not often. I'd like to know why they even ask this question. Is it a matter of whites having control issues? Why is anything other than "white" considered a minority? Isn't that an insult? I think it is. It's not fair for white people to say that if you aren't white then you are a minority because minority is a negative word. That just goes to show you that whites are still in a supremacy state of mind.

I recently had a geneologist trace my family tree, he managed to locate my relatives but in the process, he had to write out an affidavit to prove the link between me & my great grandfather. Will the home office acknowledge his proffesion & statement that he has provided me?

We all know what a generation is, but can you define it exactly? For example, four friends at a table. One born in 1952, another born in 1963, the third born in 1971 and the fourth born in 1985.
How many generations d you see here? Surely there must be an overlap here somewhere. You could hardly say that the 1952 person is from the same generation as the one born in 1985, whereas the person in 1971 could arguably say she is in the same generation as the person from 1964, and also as the one from 1985. Or am I missing something here?

Your views and comments are all welcome.

thanks.

My grandfather was Albert Edward Speakman born in Handsworth, West Bromwich in the county of Stafford. His parents were Mary Ann Burrough and John Speakman. John and Mary's children were: Frederick, Richard "John" (we think it should have been John Richard), Albert Edward, Catherine M, and Harry. We know Catherine married a man with the last name Aarons (not sure of spelling) and they had a large family in London. Her son David use to write to my father when they were children.

My great grandfather John, born the 8th of June 1875 in Shifnal Salop, was the son of Richard Speakman and Catherine Edgerley. Their children were: John, George, Sarah E, Richard W, Charles E, Agnes C and Doris.

If anyone can help me find my relatives it would be amazing! I've never met another Speakman in my entire life *s*
