If you are really interested in Genealogy, which is dead people, there are 250,000 free sites. Some are better than others. Poke through the resolved questions. You'll find lots of links and tips.

There you will find many databases - and family trees and message boards.
Another free place is your local library. Many libraries subscribe to the top pay genealogy sites and you will not have to pay.
