As a child, I was an avid ballerina, and I still teach ballet classes in my spare time. I introduced dance to my girls when they were babies, hoping they would find a love for it as much as I did. And for most of them, my wishes came true! Hannah, Taylor, Maggie, Leuscha, Ella, and Jordin are all dancers now. Hannah landed the part of Clara in "The Nutcracker" last year and the year before, and Taylor got it this year. Maggie and Leuscha are party girl and pollichennelles (mother ginger), and Ella is a mouse and Marzipan paige. But apparently ballet isn't "cool" anymore, and Taylor was bieng made fun of by some of her friends. If a 12 year old girl told you she was a ballerina, would you think she was a "loser"? Because that's what other girls her age seem to think.

I'm 14 and my streetdance instructor Sally (23) has been teaching me for about a year. I'd like to buy her some-thing nice so that she would understand that I appreciate her being my teacher and a nice little some-thing to say thank-you but at the same time we obviously arn't exactly friends and we don't know much about each other so I don't want to embarrass her by overdoing it with my generosity - I was going to give her a 10 pounds gift voucher to the body shop but my dad said that wasn't appropriate as I'm so young and it would embarrass her - has anyone any 'appropriate' gift ideas with my age in mind?

There are two parts to this question.

No.1 My feet hurt constantly since I started Ballroom Dancing three weeks ago and I'm not even wearing heels yet. Since I'm a beginner, I wear sneakers to class and I guess since they are a bit tight my feet hurt. I don't think the pain is normal since I only go on weekends and when I move my left tow it hurts. What can I do to stop the pain and what shoes should I dance in? I figured to start wearing dance shoes when I cross over to intermediate.

No.2 This last weekend I went with the dance club to a dance resort in the mountains for two days to learn dances like Salsa, Bachata, Argentine Tango, Hip-Hop and Rueda de Casino. I danced for more than 9 hours on Saturday and about 5-6 hours on Sunday and now the muscles on my feet feel tight and stressed. I'm not in excellent physical shape and have never exercised like this. What should I do about it?

I want to take a dance class but don't know which one is best for beginners. In theory I'm interested in Jazz, Hip Hop, Brazilian or Ballroom.

Also what is the most reasonable for price?

I want to be a dancer. I'm really good at hip-hop but when I see others doing ballet I really want to be able to do that. I went to dance lessons once and I had a two instructors, one was good at hip-hop and one was good at ballet. The instructor who was good at ballet had NO rythym, the instructor who was good at hip-hop was not flexible and she couldn't do ballet at all! I want to be able to be good at both types of dance. I want to be able to do hip-hop and still have my rythym and do ballet and be flexible, any suggestions?

I want to take ballet and I've seen a lot a people saying you're not supposed to wear underwear and only wear tights, but I can't imagine walking around like that. I've seen others say they wear underwear with it all the time. I've also seen something about a dance belt, and I have no clue what that is.
Also, some people have said you shouldn't wear a bra under your leotard or something weird like that. Can anyone confirm or deny any of these statements?
