I am going in December, and I do not know how formal the dress is. Should I wear a tshirt and jeans, or a suit?

Thanks.

P.S. for those that have been- is it good??

It is as formal as it gets especially for evening...matinees are a bit more casual - under no circumstances go in jeans...Ballet is awesome or at least it was 15 years ago when I went. Many of Russia's up and coming dancers now eventually work in Europe or the USA

No you do not, I repeat do not wear jeans to a Moscow theater. Unless of course you're a child or young teenager going to a matinee performance. Children can wear anything that looks neat and clean.
Wear your most formal suit. Shave. Use light cologne. Polish your shoes. The more expensive your ticket is, the more dressed up you should be.

Russia is a lot bigger on the whole dressing up idea than the US, or so was my impression. So if you feel you're overdressed - you will be dressed just right.

Keep in mind you will be able to leave your coat and heavy boots in the coat room. If you don't want to sit in your winter boots throughout the whole performance - bring dress shoes with you. They match the suit better anyway. Bring a plastic bag to put your boots into and check them. But obviously, don't leave valuables in the pockets.

Moscow is one of the biggest towns in the world. Is a city that has grown quickly in new ages, and, consequently, comprises high-rise suburbs bordering a somewhat compact historic middle with lots of fascinating historical architecture. The main host to Moscow could be the Red Square that has been for centuries, the heart and soul of Russia. Here, you are able to visit the Century St. Basil's Cathedral, one of the very most popular items of structure on earth and the constructivist chart of Lenin's Mausoleum. Red Square happens to be a wealthy place in icons of Russia's turbulent and exciting past.

Hi! You can dress up anything you want really. Jeans - is good enough. Bolshoy Thetar has very democratic style. But you know, sad but true - Now Bolshoy is CLOSED on reconstruction. Of course you can go in bolshoy's filial, but I think it's not the same.
ps I live in Moscow

It is pretty formal, especially if you go to the Bolshoi theater (the most famous theater), people there are usually VERY dressy. But it you're a foreigner, they don't mind, so you can ware whatever, but you are more likely to stand out. I would go for a suit.
and the ballet IS FANTASTIC!!!
