No! Never say never! The fact that you have gymnastic experience will really help you since you're flexible, and know you're body well and can pick up choreography well. I say go for it, David Zurak from the Martha Graham Dance Co, didn't start dancing until he was 23, Vanessa Sah from Anaheim Ballet started when she was 19, Rudolph Nureyev and Martha Graham didn't start until they were 18 and non of them have hade prior dance experience. Don't live your life thinking "what if" and just do it.

its not unreasonable. granted people start younger because its easier to adapt...its easier to get flexible and learn the concepts. but since you did gymnastics you should be fairly flexible depending on how much you've kept it up.
you can start by taking a class, maybe looking into private classes (more expensive but easier when you need to get back into the swing of things or start up something new) because there isn't really beginning classes with your age group. this will help you progress faster.
after a little bit of that then you can go into an advanced class and work with other dancers as well. it all depends on what level you would be at that will help shape your plan of action for beginning ballet lol.
good luck!

My son does gymnastics and takes the mind-blowing dance training. In my young toddlers gymnastics classification the genders are very equivalent. the toddlers in my section love the gymnastics training. The dance training are very particular, however the class my son took became very male heavy. He has taken hip hop, bhangra, jazz and a sampler classification. The ballet and highland training have very few boys, yet while my son had to do it i does not say no. while my son became 3 I placed him in merely a splash of each and every thing. i think of that's important to adventure a large array of issues. If he needs to provide up doing it that's as much as him. He rejoiced in the two those activities. He in no way had any problems with young toddlers at college. in fact he has some college acquaintances that participate interior the above activities with him.

NOO !!
if dance is something you want to do, go for it !
and if someone gives you a hard time, tell them that youre doing it to work out, and because you like it !
Look for a local studio and theres probably adult classes , if not, just talk to whoever is there and they will most likely be able to find a class that you could do.
Here's a tip - stretch lots to get flexible (if youre not already) and since ou did ballet already, it will probably just come to you.
I think its wonderful that you want to dance again!
Good luck :)

NO! It is not ridiculous!
Lots of larger dance studios have ballet classes for adults. I don't recommend going any place serious since you have been out of it for some time. They expect you to have a background.
There are lots of dance directory websites to help you find information on finding a studio.
I really hope you dance and enjoy it. Good luck!

Take dance at a local school or community center and then audition for community theater and see what comes of it. If you want to dance - do it! It is a great workout and it makes you feel happier too. Never let anyone tell you it is too late to start anything just look at Jessica Tandy she got an Oscar at 70+ after years of not acting - anything is possible. Have Fun!

Start with an adult class at a reputable studio. Bear in mind that you will not make it to being a professional dancer at your age, but that is no reason not to take ballet. Enjoy and push yourself. Good Luck

There are adult dance studios in every city. You can dance at any age. But, you are probably too old to make a career out of it. You need another job, or a husband that supports you.

I can somewhat relate to what you're saying. I danced all through my childhood and gave it up as I approached my teens. I too have had the urge to get back into dancing. I'd suggest doing it if you feel comfortable and confident enough to get back into classes. I'm sure there has to be at least one dance studio near you...give them a call and see what they suggest. Go for it!
