I'm looking for a private teacher to start lessons with, and I'd like to compete in all ten dances eventually in the international category. Which teacher/studio is friendly and affordable, and produces great results?

I am thirteen and I know I have a long time but I really really really LOVE to dance and would love to go Juilliard!!! I've always wanted to go to college in NYC even if I can't be a dancer. :( I would really love any advice. I know I don't really have any specific question but I don't really care. Please don't answer that I'll never get in because I already know it's hard. Please don't answer if you don't really have anything to say. Thanks a bunch if you do!!!

I'm working on an art project which depicts popular dance styles (partner or solo) from 1910 to 2000, one decade at a time. While anything past 1950 is easy to figure out, anything before that is really stumping me.

Does anyone have any details on these, or know a good resource for me to use? Maybe just names of some dances? I'm having a really hard time figuring this one out.

Thanks guys!

I have been casted as a swing dancer in a show that takes place in the 1940's. We do 4 dances each of which are around 10 minutes long with the exception for the opening 'swing' that is 3 minutes. We only have 2 rehersals to learn the choreagraphy befor we reherse with the entire cast. I know none of the choreagraphy and I dont know what to do.

She's a heavier girl and im a twig. She figures I wouldnt be physically able to handle swing dancing with her because I'm really quite weak. So, I'm wondering how intensive swing dancing actually is when you're doing it.

Also, what are some other fun dances you might suggest for us?

When you point your foot:
Flat feet: can go far down and out
Arched feet : can go far out and down!
ME: in between!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have someone push on my ankles and toes, but will it mess my feet up if I do it wrong? I sit on my feet on a book, does that help? And I stand on the metal bar on my bunk bed for my arches??? Do these sound like helpful things to do??
How can I get higher arches on the bottom and be able to point my feet really far down? I do it every day. Its helped, but I want something EFFECTIVE AND FAST. Thanks!!!!!!!!

My friend and I are doing an interpretive dance for a project for school on the book of Ecclesiastes (don't ask). Does anyone have any suggestions for a good instrumental song with no words, just music? I don't even know where to start looking for a song. Any suggestions are helpful. It just has to be a song with a nice tune. Thanks.

For those of you who have competed in both USA and Europe, or who is familiar with the system -
what does class "S" correspond to?
What do other letters correspond to, approximately? Or, to put it differently, how many years of training does it typically take?
Or, to put it differently, what does Amateur Pre-Champ correspond to? It's for the purpose of partner search, so it doesn't have to be exact.

He does know how to dance merengue. doesn't merengue and salsa go together so should I join his club? I dont want to go 15 miles to another latin club.

Okay, I know this is a weird one, but I am spending way too much time digging through Victoria's Secret and websites. We are required to have pink and red "outfits"... I am a professional dancer-- (Modern, we are not strippers in real life!) but this is just a fun idea that took off and has turned out to be really popular and fun! Problem? I have dancer legs (and butt, for that matter) and want something that doesn't make them look any bigger. Also, I have a pretty small chest-- Don't worry, we are only teasing down to bras and panties!! Any websites or products you could suggest? Thanks!

Has anyone heard of a social Waltz pattern or move termed "Fred & Ginger"? We stopped by a new YMCA Ballroom class to just see what was being taught now days and heard the instructor call out that move. I assume it's a closed studio term but never heard of it. Any ideas?

with the daughter. Apparently he said that anyone taking ballet was weak! Do you think a boy can last an hour and take a ballet lesson at my house in this tutu, ballet shoes, and tights?

Should I try and get him out of this or help him into his tutu and makeup!

My better half and I are attending ballroom dancing.
I saw some of the dancers that are really good in dancing Salsa - you can see the emotions and all. It was an awe seeing these dancers and I myself want to be that good.

Question is, do you have any tips on how to be that good?
Aside from practicing 3 times a week.
