The legend of sleepy hollow

Theme: “the love of money leads to disappointment”

Ichabod Crane is a school teacher who wants to marry a girl but all he really wants from her is money.

Washington Irving chose to name this story “The legend of sleepy hollow” because the town is a sleepy little town.

Repetitions: Jealousy (Brom Bones is jealous of Ichabod Crane and his love affair with Katherine Van Tassel.)Food is also repeated many times in this story.

The names of the characters define them. For example, Ichabod Crane was named after the Crane bird because of his slender physic.

Crane was very skinny and according to the story looked poor. He was very different from everybody else; he was odd. He was always hungry. Crane was also a greedy man…

I am curretly working on a novel using MS word for my input. I have over 11,000 words so far and was wondering how that would translate into book pages. Is there a formula that you can use to determine the length of a novel by the number of words used (rough estimation, not exact) so I can edit as necessary?

I'm a senior in high school and I want to get one of my friends, also a senior, a book for Christmas. I want to get her something meaningful, but nothing too too heavy and nothing as long as, say, Atlas Shrugged.

What do you think would be a good book? It's a turning point, we'll all be off in college next year. She likes to read but hasn't read very much, so whatever has touched you guys she probably hasn't read.

Any ideas? A book that mattered to you.

It is 'Twas the night before Christmas, and my parents used to read it to us every Christmas Eve. Well, we've lost the book, and don't know the author's name. Given the popular title, the only way I could recognize it would be by its illustrations. I'm guessing we bought it around 1982ish. Where do I start? Any helpful websites?

A teacher loaned me a book in grade school (about 15 years ago) to help me grasp basic math and geometry concepts. I can't remember the title. It was a fictional tale where all the inhabitants of a town were certain shapes and the story helped you understand the differences about the shapes and how they relate to eachother mathematically. It was very short and very creative. Does anyone know the title?

Ok i have to answer some questions about Stave 1 of A Christmas Carol:

What, besides Christmas, does Scrooge ridicule in his conversation with his nephew?

We read part of it today in class but we can't bring the books home-there isn't enough.

Anyone know the answer/have the book that you can look it up in? Thanks in advance
