the only fiction books i've read since finishing highschool are the harry potter books.. lol..
all these long, made up stories.. don't like them, unless they're in movie form.

i prefer non-fiction books like books on historical events and real historical people, or biology or psychology books, and astrology books (..though some of you will say astrology is ficiton, it's real to me)

so which do you prefer??

My family has a small bookstore. We had a sale so we could get rid of the books that have been there for a while. Well, there are quite a few left that we don't want to keep in the store (lack of room and such). I know about "books for soldiers" but that's more for adult books.Where can I donate the rest of the books (like teen and children books)?

Most are used and sort of old so schools and libraries wouldn't want them. Thrift stores in my area don't sell books, so that's not an option.

it's not that i can't write. i can. it just doesn't amount to anything. partly yes i am not into it with all my heart, then i am afraid to write because my first book got some nasty remarks due to some sex scenes and also i have created a big mess for myself (the inspiration for the 1st book was some guy i haven't seen in ages, then after the book came out, he pops up in my life; so i find an excuse and have a meeting with him. after that the whole bizzare situation is haunting my writing and thoughts.
the new writing seems like a sequel for the first one. but i can't deal with it. something is painful there, i seek closure but nothing provides it.
i'm at a loss. really.
can you propose anything?

answers dont exactly have to pertain to the Nabokov essay I talk about below. its just there so if anyone knows about it they know where my question comes from.
Kind of long but thanks for any help or opinions.

In Good Readers and Good Writers, Vladimir Nabokov says that he doesn't want readers to personally identify themselves in any way with a work of literature because it robs the author his creation. But at the same time he says that "Since the master artist used his imagination in creating his book, it is natural and fair that the consumer of the book should use his imagination too". I'm not sure of this difference between personal imagination/involvement and the "impersonal imagination and artistic delight" he'd rather a reader use.

She's a rich 17 year old girl who lived during the early twenieth century and she is supposed to marry this rich guy but she falls in love with a guy whose 30. There is more to the plot but I'm not going to say what it is. Anyway, i had few choices for names in mind so between these which one will be best for my character: Ophelia, Juliana, Amber, or Ellie.
