He reads almost constantly, often having at least one book open in each room at the same time. He's read many New York Times' Best Sellers and Classics. He's looking for some new titles... can you recommend anything for him?

What are 10 of your favorite somewhat not-wellknown (necessarily) books that you would recommend?

Thanks so much (I might use these as Fathers' Day gifts, too!)

p.s. for some reason my dad doesn't care for Salman Rushdie, so avoid that i suppose. but, the recommendations don't have to be too obscure or anything. just really good books that somebody might not think of necessarily.

See if they have a large print version, and request that. I've noticed, at least at my library, that there were a lot less requests for the large print version. (30 verses 297) (I'm hold numbers 13 and 65)

If you don't want it spoiled for you do not go to the site but ytmnd seems to have gotten a leaked image of a page of the book allegedly. Is this just a fanfic or could it be the real thing? (Note: big spoiler if you go there, so don't if you want to read the book and find out for yourself. Seriously)

Best one wins, it is entirely subjective by me, there are no guidelines.

"As he gazed upon the glassy, blackened ruins of Chicago, he clenched his fist, raised it to the sky, and shouted ________"

Extra points for originality.

I once read a short little page about a business man walking down the beach and comes across a bum laying in the sand. His hands behind his head, enjoing the sunshine. (or he might of been fishing)...The rest of the story is about the Business man asking why he doesn't start fishing or maybe....sell his fish to make money...then he might have enough to buy a boat. Sell lots of fish.....buy a fleet of boats. Make lots of money and soon be very rich. ect. Then he wouldn't have to ever work again and be able to just relax on the beach. No worrys. The bum says to him....isn't that what i am doing right now? Please if anyone has that. Let me know. I just guessed at the wording. I forget how it goes, but it made an impact in my life.

Is it intriguing? Why or why not? Because you do/don't like science fiction or do/don't like love stories?

Please be brutally honest... I am writing a book...

I have a difficult time find good authors. My favorite authors are Dean Koontz and James Patterson. I like just basic thriller/mystery fiction novels. Any suggestions?

I couldn't help wondering what kinds of stories they would write if they were alive today in my country. Just a thought. Perhaps some of you might make a suggestion. Like for example, could Poe write a horror story based on the Internet? How would Dickens write about an aspiring rap artist? Etc.
