If I were you I wouldn't pre-order it. Wait, hear me out! What you want to do is go to your local supermarket (yes, supermarket) at midnight on July 21. They'll be selling Deathly Hallows starting at that time, and you're likely to have little or no line at all. Take my advice. I did this when HBP came out, and it worked out great. I got my book as soon as was physically possible, and the Shop Right I went to even let me keep the cardboard box that the books had been shipped in (which, for a huge fan like me, was quite exciting).

I don't know where you live, but I have already pre ordered my copy and I have the day it comes out marked on my calendar. I have already told everyone to leave me alone that weekend, cause I ain't answering the phone...I will be reading! I am such a nerd when it comes to a good book! Try a smaller book outlet in your area for a pre order...and maybe plan on going to pick it up a few hours past the store opening.

Well, for the movie, just buy a ticket on that day for later and possible for the book, then just go to barnes and nobles to go pre-order one
