The Ender books by Orson Scott Card are worth reading, especially "Ender's Game", which is outstanding. I also love the Miles Vorkosigan novels by Lois Bujold.
The Kushiel novels by Carey are outstanding, but on the adult end of the YA spectrum with some pretty steamy sex scenes. On the younger end, but still done well enough for adult readers, L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" is a classic, and Leguin's Tehanu books are very good..
If you like humorous novels, the Discworld books by Pratchett are excellent, and the Xanth novels of Antony are worth a look, and of course the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays - I recommend these two -
1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader"
written by Bradley K. Martin
2) "Rogue Regime"
written by Jasper Becker
These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean Government.
Fiction?
Try all the books written by Clive Cussler.
The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These are well-written.

If you're between 12 and 18 and like video games and best friends stories I think you might like my YA novel GAMEPLAYER: The Genesis Portal.
GAMEPLAYER follows the adventures of Nine-dog, Gator and Louie; three racially diverse buddies growing up in the skateboarding, video gaming obsessed Santa Monica, California beach life-style.
It's available at the normal online sites like amazon, B&N, Borders, etc. and as an ebook on mobipocket.com.
You can check it out further and read the prologue on my site www.myspace.com/gameplayerbook.
Not meant as a commercial just a suggestion,
Gary Anderson

Well, here you go- i'll help you out. Sadly I can't provide you with the summary of books, but maybe these site links will help you out :-)..
Science Fiction and Young Adult books:
http://www.amazon.com/Science-Fiction-Fantasy-Teens-Books/b/ref=amb_link_12/103-9928895-8159859?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=17466&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=browse&pf_rd_r=1TAM9C8H0MH1RZVYQK5Y&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=236740601&pf_rd_i=28 When you first look upon this Page you'll see the classic books Harry Potter fans won't shut-up about, but if you scroll down you'll see a few news books, so on and so forth as you skip page to page.
Another Adult Fantasy/Science Fiction page:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/subjects/scifi/scifi_cds2.asp?PID=160&z=y Well this link contains prob. the best of the two links, the greatest book you can find.. Barnes and nobels rocks.
Hopefully i'll help,

Daughter of The Forest by Juliet Marillier was a fabulous book.
The Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce was great.
The Seer and the Sword by Victoria Hanley was a cute book although it was an extremely easy read. It was great though.

A couple of new authors to try
A. Lee Martinez - "Gil's All Fright Diner"
Earl (vampire with a comb-over and confidence problems) and Dukel (pot bellied red-neck werewolf) are traveling through West Texas when they stop at a lonely diner which is attacked by a swarm of zombies.
Did I say it's funny?
A YA paranormal by Rosemary Clement-Moore
"Prom Dates From Hell" Maggie sees things, demons to be more specific and they are gathering to destroy the High School prom. Another easy fun read for the summer.
