Is it intriguing? Why or why not? Because you do/don't like science fiction or do/don't like love stories?

Please be brutally honest... I am writing a book...

Of course you can write science fiction with a romance sub-plot. It is a useful way to establish character and move your story along. I find that I am pulled into the story quicker if I can relate to the characters on a level that is familiar to me. Being a woman, romance does the trick.

However, if you are writing a story with your setting in outer space or involving aliens or unknown civilizations, it may be difficult. But if you are writing in one of the many sub-genres, such as fantasy or horror, I think you can easily work it into your story. As long as it is believable!!!

Believability is key when writing science fiction.

Science fiction romances are very hot right now. So long as you have a believable plot and a believable background for your story, it'll do fine.

i like sci fi and i like love stories. as long as there is plenty of action and other fully or semi fuly devloped characters besides the 2 falling in love folks should read it.

anne mccaffrey's scifi trilogy on the crystal line and the planet one had love story and ya know folks liked her books.

the acorna series which has chidlren as themain characters did not do as well. folks like a lil romance. at least women do!

Not remotely interesting, because you're just naming a genre and a plot line. It is as if you said Western/coming of age story, what do you think?

Are you naive enough to think sci-fi/love story is somehow an innovation?

as long as the love story is a subplot. Most of the time this doesn't work out and usually looks quirky. I think one of the only exceptions id the movie the fountain.
