My four friends and I always joke about how the story of our friendship could be a novel, or lifetime movie someday... Lately, our lives have been so dramatic and so paralleled and so poignant that I've felt that a book or movie would be an interesting prospect.... except....

I'm not great at writing, and wouldn't be able to do anything like a manuscript...

Has a person ever just suggested a story to an already-established writer or movie-maker, and allowed the writer or movie-maker to take their story and develop it? Or is that just not done? If they did make the story, would we be credited with the idea or would we not hold any rights on the story at all?

Is it a matter of waiting until I'm rich enough to hire a writer to do the work that I'd need to do?

my dad chews through books... I want to get him something new for father's day but I don't know what to get. I need someone's personal opinion who may have read the kinds of books he has read and enjoyed.

he LOVES James Clavell and Clive Cussler, James Michener, and Edward Rutherford. He's basically read EVERYTHING those 3 authors have ever written. he enjoyed Dan Brown's stuff and he likes mystery novels (but I'm trying to get him away from just 'junk mystery stuff,')
I tried to get him to read Salman Rushdie and he "just couldn't get through it" ... bleh. I'd like to find him something he'd like and/or something that would challenge his boundaries a little but he'd still enjoy. please give me personal recommendations!!! thank you so much! -E

Ok..so I'm rereading the Harry Potter series..again. And as I read each book I'm watchin the movie afterwards..(I know I'm a loser...lol)...but, has anyone else noticed how much the changed the movie for #3 compared to the book. #1 and #2 were not changed this much!! I mean the ending was SOOOO different..!! Did anyone else notice this???

I know they have to cut out some to make it fit in the time-frame..but that's not even what I'm talking about!! All the events that happened with the time-turner they changed completely. Like Hermione having to howl like a wolf , and throwing the pebbles to warn thier past selves to leave never even happened in the book!!!

Please comment on whether it's great or whether it's terrible!

A single, solitary woman walked down a dimly lit corridor. Her raven coloured hair was pulled back in a severe bun and her face was stiff and unsmiling. She was trained that way. The sombre grey suit she was wearing matched the surroundings-dull and boring.

She glanced at her watch briefly before increasimg her already brisk pace. The Director did not like lateness.Tucked under her arm was a file-black and seemingly normal. She had to deliver it to him personally. No eye contact. No opening the file.No speech. And if she lost it, it would cost her her life.

She breathed deeply. She was not allowed to tell anybody about the file-even tough she did not know its contents. If she tried to do that, every trace of her would be erased.Gone. Wiped off the face of the earth. How could a file contain such power? She did not want to know.
Finally, she came to a stop in front of the only door in the entire corridor. It was obvious,

Has anyone read either of these, or BOTH of these books? And, in your own words, how good/bad were they, and why? The most detail gets the "Best Answer". Thanks!

Oh my gosh I am one of the thousands who have probably aksed this question but who do you think will die in the last Harry Potter Book? I am so excited to find out! Recently I watched this interview with J.K. Rowling in it and she said that the reason why she didn't tell anyone who was going to die was because she didn't want to get bad mail. So please post your answer on who you think the two unlucky characters will be that die in the final book! Thanks!

I like to write. I enjoy writing and I would want to pursue it professionally, but I do not have time to spend four to five hours a day writing - I am a teenager, and even with the summer, I still have things to do. I can't commit myself wholely to a schedule. But I would like tips.

Also, if you would inclue some good books with tips or books you'd reccommend or you'd think would help anyone's writing, etc. that would be great.

Thanks!

It's a novel by an American author, and the title is: 'Special Topics In Calamity Physics'. I didn't like this novel at all, I would love to know what other people thought of it.
