Were you expecting a written essay? This is your homework. School is almost over. Why not finish the year off with a bang and write your own essay? Caliban is a very interesting character to write about. Pax - C

There's some interesting topics to work off here, and a lot of material in Tempest about them. Caliban is portrayed as savage, or perhaps just coarse - note his alliance with the drunkard sailors, who are civilized after a fashion but hardly advertisements for society. The advantages of civilization in Tempest are perhaps ambiguous, The Duke has been unjustly exiled from his homeland along with Miranda, and the crimes of civilization follow the voyagers to Prospero's island in Antonio, the usurper of Milan, and the willingness of Sebastian to murder his brother to further his own ambitions.

You should also consider the utopian fantasy of Gonzalo in Act II Scene i, and how quickly his imaginary combination of society and idyllic innocence falters under the cynical and shrewd critique of Sebastian and Antonio, as well as the debate between Caliban and Prospero in Act I Scene 2.
