Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series & Kathy Reichs Temperance Brenena series both deal in forensics. James Patterson's Alex Cross series is excellent, Jonathon Kellerman has a series of books with a psychiatrist as his main character Alex Delaware. Also if you are a fan of CSI and CSI Miami there are several novels out with the characters from those series featured in great story lines.

well...i read this series about FBI and shootings and all that forensic stuff in it and also some romance in it and i thought that that was a really really good read....its a series but it doesnt start of where the last book left off....each book has its own story in it but also has the characters that the previous books may have had so like there are ways that the stories connect together.....well they are the iris johanson books and i think that they are really good! they are a great read and i just couldnt put the book down until i read the last page and was down with it!! they r really good!! try them!

Jeffery Deaver has a some really great police procedurals, especially his Lincoln Rymes novels. They usually deal heavily with psychos who are caught through the combined talents of Lincoln Rymes, a retired forensic investigator who is also a quadriplegic, and his partner/lover, police officer Amelia Sachs. Very well written.

In my opinion, Patterson's Alex Cross books and Kellerman's Alex Delaware books are the best of the headshrinker-as-crimesolver books.

I do find Alex Cross a bit more interesting, and Patterson's writing a lot more suspenseful, but I would recommend either with no qualms at all.

Are you only looking for psychiatrist/psychologist? Because the scarpetta series by Patricia cornwell is phenominal!! Its a mystery/horror/suspense about a coroner.
