It featured a young king called King Zar(sp) and he had friends that helped him along the way. I can't recall the actual title but I remember that it was a beautiful picture book and now I would like to have a copy for my children. Does anyone recognize this?

What kind of marriage do Edna and Leonce Pontellier have? Point to scences, actions, or statements to support your view.

For what purpose does Chopin include minor characters such as Adele Ratignolle and Mademoiselle Reisz? Is Edna similar/different? How?

Can anyone could help me?

Thanks

It's about a reporter looking for a couple of scientists who reportedly found immortality. It turns out that the scientists found immortality through the bacteria in the gut of some fish but by the time the reporter finds them the scientists have lived so long that they became chimps. Any ideas?

I need to find a prose extract of either a tragic hero or a novel that covers the downgfall of a protagonist. It has to be a novel AFTER 1770 (so NO Shakespeare etc!)

Many thanks in advance!

John Grisham is high on my list. I'm a paralegal, and reading his law stories bore me to death! Steven King has to be next. I'm sorry, Steve--you write better short stories than novels, and you don't have to mention every commercial product ever made (He was wearing his Nike sneakers, drinking his Coca Cola in his Star Wars pajamas).
Which modern authors do you think aren't worth the hype?

I'm looking for some good books to read with amazing fight scenes. Something on the level of the Bourne Identity, People Die, Neuromancer, or the Blue Belle. Any suggestions?

The top three in my list would Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Can you suggest any more authors? These three are just effortless fun and funny. I'd like to expand my horizons.

And I have to agree with Douglas Adams that the only one who couldn't make a joke to save his life would be Shakespeare.

Any recommendations, then?

We all know Shakespeare's great works. In one of his plays he mentioned a story about a Jew and a one pound of flesh:

1. What is the story in brief?

2. Would Shakespeare be considered anti-Semite based on this story. Please, expand on your YES or NO.

PS: Serious people only. Foul language will take you nowhere.
