I see a bird in the sky
The pretty bird flies so very high
I watch the clouds go by
And I sigh
I have seen this all before
Last night when I walked through my door
It hurt to the core
And I was sore
No more
I used to watch a lot of tv
When I used to be so free
When it was just me
Now there is he
He doesn’t like tv
I want to dance
And take a trip
I want to eat ice cream
And watch it drip
I know this poem really bites
But I had to laugh tonight
Hope you got a kick as well
Please don’t give me too much hell

can anyone tell me their opinion on this poem of mine and what would you name it?

The lines of every face tells a story
A story that can string the paths of the mind to the soul within
The eyes that have seen so much entice me to look deeper
To look something else
The dark leathery skin shows the horror of his past
The firm set lips look like they’ve never before bore a smile
His music is his only escape as the sound of his sacred heart fills the air
People gather around
The music touches them all
You can see as tears fill their pale cheeks as they pour out their own sorrow
A muggy sky swirls around them
Music was their escape
Who were they?
Blues singers.

What was Romeo and Juliet's predicament?

Come up with a better plan for these "star-crossed lovers." Can you think of a solution that would bring about a better ending to the play?

Dusting

Each morning I wrote my name
on the dusty cabinet, then crossed
the dining table in scriptm scrawled
in capitals on the back of chairs,
practicing signatures like scales
while Mother followed, squirting
linseed from a burping can
into a crumpled-up flannel.

She erased my fingerprints
from the bookshelf and rocker,
polished mirrors on the desk
scribbled with my alphabets
My name was swallowed in the towel
with which she jeweled the table tops.
The grain surfaced in the oak
and the pine grew luminous.
But I refused with every mark
to be like her, anonymous.

This book series had nothing to do with the underwater Atlantis science fiction/fantasy scenerio. It was a detective style series. The basis was a band of "misfits" put together to fight crime. Each novel was around 200 pages and each installment featured two or three different "misfits". I believe the target audience of the series was aimed at 12-16 yr olds. I had 10-15 novels from the series back in the day and I cannot remember the actual name of the series or the authors name, about the only thing I do remember somewhat clearly is that on every issue of the series the cover drawing was of a man with a major cleft on his chin this character was "the leader" of the group. For some reason Richard keeps popping into my head as the leader's name but I really don't remember. If anyone knows what series I'm talking about please let me know. Thanks!

I'm writing a book about teenagers in a hospital for suicidal youth. Since I've personally been in one recently, I want to write something that might someday show readers the things that everyday kids can go through, and the huge ammount of pressure that gets placed on them. But I want my characters to have realistic problems - ones that people won't roll their eyes at. Something a bit original?

I just finished Oryx and Crake and it knocked my current favorite novel (Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises) straight out of first place.

I'm interested in reading some of her other works, but I'm worried about several things, the foremost being that Atwood has a reputation for being a bit of a feminist and, although I am female myself, find raging feminism not only tiresome, but largely unnecessary.

That in mind, I was wondering if some people could make some suggestions as to what to read next.

Fiction or non-fiction. I think stories about people can help us understand one another across cultures. Stories build empathy and empathy breeds peace. What books worked for you?
