I think maybe because women weren't recognized much back in those days. They weren't paid attention to, and certainly not allowed to voice opinions, much less their philosophies on life.

A quick search on Wikipedia will find a list of nearly 90 female philosophers, with 4 from the 4th century BC.
Female philosophers are less well known than their male counterparts because philosophy, like society, has been male dominated for centuries.

Philosophy is extremely academic, meaning that it - usually - isn't one of those things you pick up on outside of the classroom. Since women weren't allowed into most universities until the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was very difficult for them to learn about philosophy. Thus, it was difficult for them to work out their own philosophies. If you're interested in female philosophers, I'd suggest Simone de Beauvoir. She was one of the leading female philosophers. Hope this helps.

Women are generally too busy and pragmatic to become involved professionally in what might be described as much ado about nothing. There were many, mostly anonymous women, involved through out the Roman world at large. Many religious were also involved both pagan and Christian The Greeks treated women in a very oriental way.

Philosophy is an particularly male ruled challenge and it nevertheless is. Feminism and euality for the sexes do no longer look to have penetrated philosophy as they produce different tutorial learn. Any women individuals philsophers I studied in the course of my degree were in elementary words a pair of articles the following and there and they not in any respect dealt with the tremendous philosophical questions, in elementary words with a lady's position etc. it form of feels that feminist theory is the in elementary words philosophy women individuals are deemed qualified to the contact upon in the challenge. i imagine that's an excellent shame. I struggled in the course of my philosophy degree to conquer inherent and frequently subcoinscious prejudice against me as a lady. there have been some distance fewer women individuals reading it, and they were alwyas handed over and talked over in seminars by technique of adult adult males. that's the ridiculous concept that adult adult males have more desirable logical analytical brains that leads to one of those discrimination. A learn performed on exam papers confirmed that, even as the scholars call replaced into no longer protected on the paper, if the instruct's call replaced into, then scholars with a lady instructor received poorer grades for an similar high quality of essays than those with male instructors. Its an subconscious bias, and that i wish that females individuals can particularly attempt to make their names as large thinkers, and not in any respect only large theorists about feminism. even as there have been women individuals philosophers, none of them are commonly used in the way each and every of the 'philsophical geniuses' are. in reality, very few women individuals are ever hailed as geniuses no count what they do or accomplish. i imagine it you wanted to be taken heavily as a lady logician you've to make stronger a beard and provides you your self a guy's call. Sorry for the rant, even though it particularly receives on my nerves!!!
