No, but I do feel it's a ripoff when I see a lot of good poetry and bad on their site. I've heard so many terrible stories of their letters telling aspiring poets that they're a semi-finalist and then saying you don't have to buy a book, and they'll still publish it. If you don't buy it, you won't know if they're telling the truth. They also have last minute title changes of their anthologies before finally publishing it. They're more focused on the money and not honesty. Lots of people have posted on various poetry sites saying they've submitted junk, and it still gets accepted. Poetry.com just wants to collect as many poems for each volume and get people to fork over $49.95 or more for their pre-publication discount. It supposedly goes for $69.00 or more retail.

It's such a scam. You submit a poem, and everyone who submits probably receives a letter telling them they're a semifinalist and hooray for them, and then they ask you to buy a copy of the book, to go to awards ceremonies where you'll be crowned King/Queen of Poetry in All the Universe, to buy plaques declaring your supreme poetic genius, etc.

Never really thought about it. I don't see the point, actually. Personally, I think the IRS is a more fitting target....

For legal purposes, I am going to state here that I am not now, nor have I ever, plotted to blow up ANYTHING.
