Step away from the classics: give me modern and recent books that my middle and high school boys would enjoy reading. They're not big fans of Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket, which I thought would be good.

Reading is like a whole seperate world from the one we live in. I feel terrible for the people that don't read fiction novels. You're missing out on so much if you don't read, you have NO IDEA.

Anyway, when people that don't see the words they use in writing on a regular basis post up here on Y!A and such, readers like myself say to ourselves, "Man. I guess that person doesn't read ever..." because you say things how you HEAR them, not how they're actually spelled. Like "If I 'fast ford' through a tv show" or "I'm 'suppose' to go here." and "my son plays with a 'stuff' cat" and my favorites, the slaughtering of "there, they're their, your, you're" and people, ONE WOMAN is spelled WOMAN. Not WOMEN.

Anyway, reading is so much fun and it makes you more knowledgable at the same time. Just try it! Read Jurassic park by Michael Crichton. It'll have you at the edge of your seat for HOURS!

Opinions? Oh, and God help me if I made a spelling error, I know I'm asking for it...

The farmer wanted to become like the sparrow so he could lead him into the barn to get him to shelter b/c opening the barn doors, putting a trail of crackers and trying to "shoo" them into the barn didn't work. He felt if he could become like the sparrow then the sparrow would trust him more and not be so scared of the man. The man realized that this is the same reason Jesus was human, so we could relate to Him better and we would follow him.

I live in Canberra, Australia and I really don't want to go to the bookstore when Deathly Hallows comes out... I've been put off by that video of the guy driving past and yelling out what happens in it!!! If this book is ruined for me I think I'm going to go into depression >P
Can I get it delivered to my house on the day it comes out? I've tried looking it up on the internet but couldn't find anything, so I don't know.
Thanks XD

I a have non self sufficent 25 yr old girlfriend who can't even balance her own checkbook. She has a gullible, naive personality, (every sales persons dream!) Anyhow, she's been ripped off apartment wise, vehicle financing wise, well the list can go on. She can't cook, clean, sew, do laundry or even clean her cat's litter box ET CETERA.
She actually had her mom do EVERYTHING for her. She recently moved in to her own place with roomates.. I'm just worried she won't last a week there.. Hey! I would show her the ropes of life, but I can't show her everything! Maybe a book would help?

Are there books that tell you how to do EVERYTHING!

I recently got this mood of reading fiction detective (that includes drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, psychological, thriller, and/or supernatural) novel :D

But, please, no lame novels with fancy covers. I might lose my mood of reading it.

I thought A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess , The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum and Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite were pretty high up there.
