Movies:

I love Peggy Sue got married & Back to the Future.
my boyfriend swears by "Time Cop" with Jean Claude Van Damme. I'm not sure if I trust him on this one (apparently mullets are back in come 2012!)

There's also Time after Time directed by NIcholas Meyer - it's based on Sherlock Holmes but he has to travel to the modern era - pretty cool

And I almost forgot - Time Bandits!
A totally overlooked movie from this past year (now out on DVD) is Mike Judge's "Idiocracy" w/Luke Wilson. (technically he doesn't "travel" through time but he does wake up 500 yrs in the future so it comes close.)

Books: Time Machine (duh)
Outlander Series by Diana Gabalon - historical romance/time travel - I've recommended these to people who love sci-fi and fanatasy but aren't particularly into romance and they have LOVED them (one person rushed out and bought the whole series she got so hooked.) link below

Book AND Movie
"A connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" - Mark Twain
two Movie versions: first w/Danny Kaye, the second in 1995 (renamed "a kid in king arthur's court) - a not particularly great movie which is redeemed by containing a young Kate Winslet

A new book called The Time Travelers Academy by Reginald Williams is a very good time travel book with a new concept of the "grandfather paradox" nonstop action and adventure mixed with romance, martial arts, and science fiction along with a good plot and story. He has a cool web site at: thettacademy.com

I also suggest a book called The Time Travelers Wife, not much time travel but a very good book. Movie rights purchased by Brad Pitt. The movie will be released next year 2008.

The best time travel story I've read is 'A Little Something for Us Tempunauts' by Phillip K ****

There are a few good time travel movies (Donnie Darko kind of fits the bill there) but I'd recommend Twelve Monkeys or Primer as both explore the madness of trying to understand of what time travel entails

Absolutely must read Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger . Beyond fabulous.
Time and Again by Jack Finney.
Time Lottery by Nancy Moser. This one is more about what would you do if you could go back in the past and change history.
Time Travelers Academy by Reginald Williams (haven't read that one yet).
Timetipping by Jack Dann
Time travel is a popular plot for romance novels and sci-fi/fantasy novels.
Two Georges by Harry Turtledove and Richard Dreyfuss is an alternative history book that you may enjoy.
Harry Turtledove (ed) actually has a book out called The Best Time Travel Stories of the 20th Century. http://www.amazon.com/Best-Time-Travel-Stories-Century/dp/0345460944/sr=1-5/qid=1171962638/ref=sr_1_5/103-0633965-1178230?ie=UTF8&s=books

For some new stuff, you may want to try a new book, soon to be released from Double Dragon Publishing. Actually, it's two volumes with ten nifty stories in each. The title is TWISTED TAILS II: Time on our Hands, Volumes 1 and 2.

They're going to be released in both e-book and paperback. For general information on the publisher and their current offerings you can go here:

http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/

You can ask the head man there (Deron Douglas) for a date on its coming release.

For older books, there are hundreds and many of them are very good. It's hard to beat the original, the one that started it all -- THE TIME MACHINE by H. G. Wells.

Just for your information, time travel as a possibility has recently come up several notches on the we-can-do-this scale in the world of real physics... Have fun!

Movie: Somewhere in Time is nice, although maybe a little dated. Books: You can't go wrong with H.G. Wells' The Time Machine. I've also heard that Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Travellers Wife is good.

Time Line by Micheal Crichton is good, but it does have a bit of cuss words. It personally did not like the movie.
Back to the Future movies are good.

A movie called "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. It's an older movie, but well worth it if you can find it.

I would strongly suggest Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Even though this is one of Mr. Vonnegut’s most recent works it is awesome. This book got me hooked on Vonnegut. He is most definitely one of the best American authors living today.
