Give 3 reasons why it is worth reading. Its title in full, or where to find it. What it has done for you if applicable?

I'm reading Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens...and he keeps saying "the parish authorities" What does he mean by parish? I looked up the word and the only thing that came up was something about religion and administrative subdivisions. Thanks in advance.

Or, do you prefer movies or books. I personally prefer books because they allow me to visualize the story for myself, rather than being subjected to another person's viewpoint. I will usually watch a movie after having read the book.

Does anyone know where I can find the book? Writer's Digest and Barnes and Noble don't have it listed. I wondered if it's out-of-print. I can't even find it in my own library system. Any ideas?

I know that both forms of these kinds of poetry do rhyme with a rhyme scheme. But I wondered if it's considered to be metered.

That was the summer I met him. The dried grass seemed to stretch off into eternity, as far as the eye could see, until its straw-coloured stalks hit a wash of distant purple. Everything smelt of creosote that summer, that first summer. And England seemed like a world of possibilities.

I love books written by the following authors:
Michael Connolly
John Grisham
Robert Crais
Jefferson Parker
Ridley Pearson
George Pelecanos
Nora Roberts
Sandra Brown

However, I've read all their books so I'm looking to try out a new author.
Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you.

I read a chapter book when I wea a pre teen about a witch who was upside down. She got into a little girl's room somehow and asked the girl to help her get right side up again. I don't remember much of the story except for a part where the witch takes a shower and the bath rug gets stuck to the ceiling. The rug is later used as a flying carpet to help the girl gather the things the witch needs to get right side up. I also remember the witch would suck on glass like it was rock candy.

Does anyone know the title? I mentioned the book to my daughter and now she wants to read it, but I can't remember the title.

I'd like to find a book or a website, or even a documentary, about the filming and production of Apocalypse now. I'd like this source to be detailed and of a good length, so I could use it for a research project. I already know about the documentary "Heart of Darkness: A Flimmaker's Apocalypse, so other sources would be more useful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Actually two books and I can't remember the names, but I want to get them for my daughter. One was about a couple of kids who found a big bag of popcorn and the other is about a couple of kids whose parents wouldn't let them trick or treat, so they made cookies, dressed in costumes and gave the cookies away to the neighbors in exchange. Does this sound familiar to you? Thanks!
