So I"ve been reading Pride and Prejudice and falling in love with the book but I still don't really understand why Wickham would run off with Lydia (is it because he knew that Darcy would step in since he's partial to Elizabeth and therefore her family?) and what's the worst that could happen if she did? I don't understand... Your comments and clarifications would be most appreciated.

At the moment I have 9 books picked out (4 of which I have already read once and the rest I have been wanting to read)..here they are:

5. Key Philosophical Writings by Descartes

7. The World as Will and Representation by Schopenhaur

9. War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy

I like a magnitude of books...at the moment I am reading Oedipus Rex but just finished a biography of Jim Morrison.

The only kinds of books I don't really like are romance and science fiction novels.

So, what are some books you would suggest?

True story- Author's first name may be Jack? Takes place in mountain area maybe. Girl was buried not far from house where she was taken. When body found still had red shirt and braces intact. Guy was local bodybuilder always in trouble with mean streak. He is married and wife denies he could have done it. Mother fights for justice and proof. Father can't handle and kills himself. Brother stays with mom. Mom has to move place to place due to father's lack of employment. Book has pictures from the trial in it and pictures of the mom and dad and little girl before she was murdered. She was walking along road to home after school. I can't remember the title of the book and really need to know.

I was just wondering if you would consider her a feminist. She was a social activist, but I think she was also a feminist for her time. She lived a life outside her social norms as well which also point to this. She beleived in rights for women. Just curious. I have not seen any other feminist from england before her, except Mary Wollenscraft.

Does anyone know of a book that a woman wrote about her mother getting Alzheimer's and how she took care of her. It was a true story. In the year 2001 she was on Oprah to talk about her book. I have no idea what it was called or who wrote it. I'm desperate to find out, please help me!

Having trouble finding good authors to read. I like mysteries, but they need to have humor, no Stephen King....I'm also interested in the classics. All time favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, also loved Of Mice and Men. I tried to read Great Expectations, but couldn't finish it...
