For those of you in the publishing industry - especially the book publishing industry - I have a question for you. Of course you have to go to parties and socialize with clients.

Are you constantly bombarded with, say, influencial people - those you can't afford to offend - having them pull you aside to say, " hey, would you mind reading my wife's manuscript? " Or their cousin's dog's sister's owner's housekeeper's husband's manuscript?

I've always wondered about that. Since this is an anonymous forum, you can vent your heart out.

When I read for a long time, when I stop reading(or finish the book) I often feel like I've woken up from a very nice nap. Does anyone else ever feel like that?

What are your reasons for reading fiction? I am a busy adult who have very little time with reading "unnecessary" material, although I can imagine it would be nicer to read a fictional book than go to the movies. You just love to read stories? I never can understand people who read almost entirely fiction. Doesn't the reality orientation get messed up/affected?

I love to read nonfiction because it gives facts and I can utiltize it. I am always wary of fiction that it will mislead, if one doesn't research all that there is to a fictional book say, on genetic advances.

Please share how you feel fiction does/does not disorient you in terms of reality and why you read them. Thanks

Or will he rise from the ashes - just like his pheonix - to help Harry battle Voldemort? (Harry will die during the battle, as will Voldemort, but then rise again too!)

I need a copy of the poem

"Beale Street Love" by Langston Hughes

or

"Ballads of Lenin" by Langston Hughes

Please provide a link if possible.

"Beale Street Love" is the preferred poem, but I'll gladly take whichever of the two can be found.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

In 2004 I was interviewed over the phone by *Mary* for her book on help desk management and customer service. I took a picture for the book and it was sent to her. She told me she would contact me when the book was finished and send me a copy. I have since wondered when I shall see that book. Now today, I Google myself and find out I am in this book, published in 2004 and never knew it was actually completed. Do I get royalties or some sort of payment, or can I sue her? What should I do?

(I googled her and found out she is the president of her own company and I have the number. Should I call her and question her, or speak to a lawyer?)

I have a friend that is Ukranian. There is a Ukranian history book on ebay that is signed by an author. Would this make a good gift? Or is it a dumb idea?

The Leader

You are my friend
You are a leader
To whom I respect
You have taught me much in these harsh times
Since I have been born till this very day
You have never let me down

A true leader you are
A person who takes responsibility
Not many are to be leaders
Only some with the potential
It takes great strength and courage
For a person who cares a lot

Till this day I look upon you as an inspiration
Not only to me but also to many who have seen
This day is not the last
You still have tomorrow
This day can not be the very few
For a person who had so much passion
In his work

I shall want to be one in the near future
To take right decisions and handle every situation
To take initiative
So the leader I follow for now
We shall see later on
If I can take this challenge
In hope I trust to see you once again

Why is it okay to judge a book by it's cover. I'm just talking about the general idea. Please provide reasons and examples if you can.
-Thanks =)
