The scariest book I have ever read is Stephen King's "The Shining", which didn't really translate as that scary on the big screen. Alternetively, the scariest movie I have seen is Stephen King's "It", which really wasn't that scary in book form. Wierd, huh?

This book is not necessarily scary. It's more along the lines of "Exquisite Corpse" is a book by Poppy Z. Brite. She is an awesome author and nobody knows who she is. If you want "expected scary" go for Stephen King . This is another, although, I don't categorize it under scary. It's a trilogy. You'll love it: <1The Witching Hour <2 Taltos <3Lasher These are by Anne Rice. Enjoy yourself!

The Homing by John Saul, whats scarier than being tied up in a basement and left for ant/bees and other horrible insects to eat you alive for days.

I'll have to cast my vote for Edgar Allen Poe's "The Telltale Heart." If you haven't read Poe, RUN, do not walk, to the book store!

The Exorcist. I started reading it after my last class when I got back to the dorm, and it kept me awake all that night until I finished it.
