Neither, among all authors whom I like.
Between these two only, I choose Tolkien.

Both. Tolkien's world is so much more detailed and epic in scale, but his writing is admittedly quite dry. Rowling, on the other hand, has fantastic plots but not much in the way of epic scale or major historical development. So I see pros and cons in both their writings.
Have fun with your survey :)

Neither. I like Neil Gaiman and Douglas Adams, if we're talking fiction with a science/ fantasy twist.

Both. And add Paulini (Eragon) and LaMontagne and Snyder (King Fortis the Brave) to that list. All are great!

Neither, admittedly I haven't read all of their books, but my ex-friend likes them both and he doesn't even understand much of their writings. I prefer Terry Brooks.
