i went to high school with a girl named jennifer smith. her dads name was john smith. i would say that it is one of the most common names in america

I know a Jennifer Smith myself. If you don't want to completely change the name, how about changing the spelling?
Smyth? or Jennyfer or Jenifer or Jenefer?
