What did you do that, in you estimation, made a difference...that made an agent or publisher take notice?

I noticed that a few publishers are doing this now and a friend told me how he paid to have his name on a billboard in a comic book?
apparently you can do this for weddings and births and so on. How much would you pay and how far should your character be involved?

I was reading the questions on the site and I ask my self how it is possible that nobody jhas interess in the clasics. Modern literature is nothing compared with the grate works of the past, don't you think? I mean, how ccould you like Dan Brown and his fiction with no sense?

I just read another Carl Hiaasen book and I have to say, I LOVE this guy. He is so sarcastic, smart, funny, and twisted! One of the characters is a steroid junkie and an ex-cop/con who gets humped to death by a dolphin! Seriously! How does someone dream up that kind of thing? The guy is a genius.

Has anyone else read him and agrees with me?

Native Tongue
Sick Puppy
Skinny Dip
Lucky You

These books friggin' rock!

Hi everyone!

I'm a translator from Iran. A while ago I started translating the masterpiece DUNE to Farsi. I didn't think it would be an easy job, but I had absolutely no idea how some concepts and sentences of it could be SO HARD to grasp!
What I need right now is a fan of the Book with good command of English who can help me understand the not-so-clear sentences and stuff, preferably a patient guy or gal cuz I'll have LOTS of questions to ask. Soooo....anyone interested? (Let me know your mail if you are.)

Thanks!

Has anyone read this book? And has anyone done the handbook? I like to buy an 2nd hand/ used copy, anyone know where I can get it?

It can be any genre, tell me what's better. (Obviously, if you hated MISTS OF AVALON then I don't need your input but if you feel you must share something then, go ahead.)

Also, thanks, already saw the DRAGONRIDER series (or Dragons of Perth) by Ann McCaffrey. Good stuff, too.

I was excited to see this book forum, but sometimes it seems like it's mostly populated by middle schoolers looking for people to summarize the readings they've been assigned. A related question...does this ever work? Do other people actually do these kids' homework for them on this site?

Like, they had Mr. Big and stuff...Mr. something to describe them. They were really thin children's books, and they had a lot of them. Anyone know the correct name of them?

I'm trying to put together a project that requires poetry or any written word that would mean something to today's youth. I plan on writing music to that poetry and using it with a performing group of high school students. I would also be interested in a writer's story or background that would mean something or be interesting to high school students even if his/her written work did not. The important thing is that I want the performers to feel connected to the words in the hopes of creating a meaningful experience that resonates with them.
