I noticed that a few publishers are doing this now and a friend told me how he paid to have his name on a billboard in a comic book?
apparently you can do this for weddings and births and so on. How much would you pay and how far should your character be involved?

About a tenner... you can have childrens books written with whoever you want in them! As far as a serious novel though, I probably wouldn't bother.

I would be far more likely to sue them if I found they'd deliberately used my name or other personal details - except I'm such a nobody I'd likely be awarded compensation of a penny!

I already got my name in a novel. It was my sister's birthday, and my grandmother got someone to write a book about 4 brothers and sisters and used our name!! Of course, only we got a copy of it!!!

Nothing...

and being an author myself, I wouldn't get paid to put someone in a story. It's just not... right.

I won't. I'd rather be unrepresented than misrepresented if you know what I am saying.
