I was excited to see this book forum, but sometimes it seems like it's mostly populated by middle schoolers looking for people to summarize the readings they've been assigned. A related question...does this ever work? Do other people actually do these kids' homework for them on this site?

G'day Jen A,

Thank you for your question.

It probably does.

I do assist people who ask questions with some information plus links to sites containing further information.

However, there is no substitute for reading the book yourself to pick up on nuances. I would be interested to find out how students who ask for help on writing reports and homework go.

Regards

I agree.Having said that though it is easier to work out a genuine inquiry as opposed to a homework questio or assignment by the calibre of the question and the grammar and tone of the asker.
Do not give up hope in this section.I,on a personal basis , now communicate around the world with others on a wide range of literary pieces and YES i sometime answer obvious homework questions. The only problem is when I do, the asker never comes back to give me "MY"[theirs} grading.DRAT!!

You can pretty much tell who is asking for homework help and who is asking for help finding information just for the sake of knowing the answers by the way the questions are worded. Some people do answer the homework questions, but I find the majority usually just tell the person to go do their own homework.

The other day I asked a question which I was finding impossible to find on the net, and asked it on Yahoo! Answers because I thought someone might know. This lady tells me to do my own homework, even when it wasn't for homework and my school's finished. Bizzare.

I don't think Yahoo!Answers is a very good place to get help with your homework, but sometimes it's great when you need people to direct you to sites that they know, that you just can't find through search engines, so I don't blame them inthat regard. It's great that they have these tools available for them.

Mmmm? Don't be too mislead. I've got heaps out of doing essays on books in the past and have asked pretty much the essay question on here years later just to hear what other people think. I probably sound like a lazy student but I'm not - just interested in what you think.

I have rarely seen someone completely answer the questions about someone's homework. Usually the answers are advice to do your own homework, a few hints, or, sometimes, a completely wrong answer, probably intended to confuse the person who asked the question.

For a couple of the under educated vermin, I have met them halfway. These are the ones who seem willing to do some of the work.

So, ask some of your book questions here. Looking forward to your discussions.

Kids have not yet learned that cheating is detrimental to their growth. Some might even go through life without ever learning this fact.

And yes, there will be people who will help them, I can only guess at their motives.

I know right, what is wrong with these kids, do your own homework dammit!

I read this one post: "What were the immediate causes of the American revolution?" Geez who doesn't know that?

For example how would you answer that question? Oh and could you also provide refrences...thanks.
