It's the first edition (1888) of The Black Arrow by Stevenson. Thanks! Ps - it's in pretty good condition, too.

At the end of the last book, when Dumbledore is in horrible pain, he says "please" to Snape. I wonder if he is asking Snape to kill him, because the horror and pain are too much. Perhaps Snape is still on Harry's side, even though he appears to be a traitor. What do you think?

I'm thinking of doing an essay on this book that i have only read half of. I'l be comparing it to "Catcher in the rye". Should I even bother reading this book because I don't want to have to waist time.
I need to add that it is a 3500 word essay on a topic of my choice.... I was heading towards the theme of real and sureal imagery, any better ideas?

I was just wondering if teenagers have a chance at securing literary agents and having their book published at stores such as Barnes & Noble. What if they have really good ideas and write just as well as an adult? Somehow I think their chances are very slim- any input would be nice.

In "Moby Dick", the Pequod meets the Rachel, another whaling vessel whose Captain has lost his sons in the pursuit of whales. I understand that Rachel had to wait years to have children, and that in some readings of the Bible she weeps for "her children", meaning her descendants.

But what does Melville mean when he says "she was Rachel weeping for her children, because they were not."

Because they were not weeping? Because they were not her children? Because they were not? [philosophically?]

Its a beautiful reference, but I'm not sure what it means...

First off, before this book, I rarely read anything and if I did, it was either paranormal or self-help/health types of books. My friend gave this to me last Sunday and I read it in two days... couldn't put it down, it was that good.

If you have read this book, have you read the author's other books? I have thought about getting her other books now.

The kind of books I am interested in are reference books, textbooks on various scientific and mathematical subjects, books about any religion, ancient texts, pretty much any book for a n00b philosopher such as myself (n00b is basically new person in the world of online video games). I would prefer something affordable for a jobless, middle class 14-year-old such as myself.
