All ghost-written (the tape and biographer, as you have it) except for maybe just a few.

Very rarely do they do the actual writing. What usual takes place is they narrate their autobiography to a professional writer and that person gets paid to put their thoughts down into cohesive words. The term for this person is a ghost writer. Most celebrities don't have the education, experience or the know-how it takes to make a sellable book. This also happens when someone has a good story, such as Princess Diana's butler, yet has no idea how to put it down on paper. Occasionally, you'll see the ghost writer get credit, but most of the time, they don't.

Even smart people don't always write good autobiographies. Like, take An Unquiet Mind, by Kay Redfield Jamison--it's her memoir about being manic-depressive. A lot of people think it's just wonderful, but I say it's a piece of sh!t and I don't see why you'd write about yourself if you can't make yourself look like a sympathetic character. I HATE that book, which is weird, because her other books are good. She should have used a ghost writer! I mean, she has a PhD in psychology or something, but her autobiography still sucks.
They're TOTALLY using ghost writers. You don't see them or hear about them...but I know they're there! I can see ghost writers!

If someone writes about their own life, it is called an autobiography. In a biography, another person gathers the information and writes it.

Most unlikely! While it may be true that anybody can write a book, to do one that's readable takes ability , indeed talent. A thing I would say is lacking in "pea brains ".

It depends because if its an autobiography you've wrote it yourself but just a biography you've basically got someone to write it for you all you have to do is tell them what to write....But what annoys me is these no name idiots who are only like 24 are writing their own books and they're nobodies I'm 13 if people are gonna spend £14 at WHS smiths on theirs why not on mine i should write one lol

Biographies are written by someone about someone famous: it's AUTObiographies that are written by the individual who's famous. And they usually write stuff and have someone edit it so that it makes sense and reads better.

No pea brain stars do not write their autobiographies-they are far to thick for that- instead they have a person called a ghostwriter to write it for them.
