Would you agree that out of all the artistic and physical competitions that humans take part in, the 50 (or 100) metres sprint is the one where it is likely that the best man or woman on the day takes the first prize.

I've heard the oboe is very hard to switch to from the clarinet because of the difference in embrouchre and fingerings, but i really like the sound (when played well) but I'm not sure since I don't have time to take private lessons and people have told me it's really hard to switch without a private teacher. And plus I don't want solos in my high school band class since I would be the only oboe.
Bass clarinet I heard is easier to switch to but it gets mostly the boring parts in songs, and I don't really like the sound.
My band teacher suggested alto clarinet but I don't even know what it sounds like or anything. I was just wondering what this was.
Another thing: I looked around my local music stores and asked if I could rent an oboe and every store has said that the (one or two) oboes they had were already rented.
How do I find one to rent if I decide to do the oboe?
(oh, and the reason why is that i've gotten bored of the clarinet.. unfortunately.)

Okay so I am finally starting my photography thing.. I have been going around in circles for about a month now and finally I have my camera... well two.. I have learned from some experts that starting with film is best so I am going that route first. I want to learn everything before I spend a girp on Digital. Okay so, I have my camera (Canon Rebel II).. I ended up getting two because the first one I bought (both used) the lens did not work, so instead of buying a $200 lens for a beginner I found a different camera (Canon EOS Rebel Gii). So now I have two working cameras. Anyway here is my question (sorry for rambling) What are some things that I can practice shooting before I get into my class. I am thinking it will be at least another month before my schedule opens up, but I don't want to wat that long to start... Please serious answers from the real photographers, or other ametuers. Thanks!

What kind of cameras do the photographers be using. It appears to be high mega pixels. When I look at Americas Next Top Model their pictures comes out flawless and with high quality. I will love to have one of them. Anybody know or something close to it?

I am thinking about attending there are two days of instruction, but it is pretty pricey around $150 each day. The first day is to teach basics on the digital slr camera and the second is about software programs to enhance your photos etc. Has anyone taken these courses, are they worth the price? I am not a complete beginner, just need some additional instruction, would these benefit me?

i like books like Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse [Stephie meyer] i also like hte Color Series by Melody Carlson, and TTYL series my Lauren Myracle.
I am a higher reader then most people and don't mind bad language and junk in my books.
i perfer my books to be from a girl's point of view.

We've heard a lot about fear and what it can do, and how it's been related to courage. Plato said: "Courage is knowing what not to fear". From this, we can say that courage is knowledge, but what is it that we should not fear? What kind of knowledge brings courage?
