You and I May Differ
Written by Semper Fi Reborn

You and I may differ,
On what we choose to believe.
Yet in these same differences,
Do not be decieved.
I don't hate you at all,
Or wish your demise.
I couldn't wish harm to you,
Then look in your eyes.

I may pray for you,
Like you would wish me well.
We'd pick each other up,
If one of us fell.
Why do we think,
That out of debate?
Over our beliefs,
That we harbor hate?
Not for each other, no brother,
Or sister of mine.
You choose to go logical,
I choose the Divine.
Why can we not learn,
This world is our shared space?
We must coexist,
Regardless of faith.

I know to each other,
We seem to be odd.
Your faith lies in science,
My faith is in God.

I still wish you peace.
Eventhough we don't see eye to eye.
I hope you'll accept this poem's sincerity.

Consider the following:
A)Throwing yourself on a grenade to protect the lives of your fellow soldiers
B)Blowing yourself up in a crowded market to protest a political regime
C)Confessing that u broke the valued object when u know people will be angry w/ u
d)Leaping across a large crevice on a dare
E)Sleeping w/ the light out for the first time

According to Socrates, before we could say that any particular act is courageous we would first have to understand what courage itself is. That is if some of the actions above are courages & others are not, we must have some characteristic (or criterion) by which we determine which are and which are not. So I have three questions: 1)What characteristic makes an act courageous? 2)Are the above actions all courageous? why/why not? 3) Since to call a person courageous is usually to praise that person, are all courageous acts ones that exhibit a moral strength of character?

Thanks

And, when I say throughout life, I'm talking the whole life. A life that has no potential for happiness, stability..there will be physical and/or emotional pain throughout one's life. Why would he put us through that and how does he expect us to cope?

Wikipedia is always a good source, but I need people to tell me as much as they know about medieval English culture, preferably around the years 900 - 1000 A.D. Thanks.

Example 1:
You have a foreign workmate who has a very poor English.
Would you tell him something like "man, you have to improve your English" or would you ignore his mistakes?

Example 2:
Your father has the habit of making things fast and badly for many years, would you tell him something like "Dad, the food you made does not taste well because is too fried" or would you ignore his mistakes?

Would be interesting to see comments on this as some people have a philosophy of having a good relation with everybody where being tolerant is essential and on the other hand some people have a philosophy where to correct wrong behaviours/attitudes is important to improve the world that you would like to build.

Thanks in advance.

*****
Hey You!

This road is long
The lanes are narrow
Destination, has a name
You may call it, what you want to
But it’s all, the very same

I’ve come here
An individual
Free to say, what I believe
Because I know, that silent living
Is a fearful, web to weave

So hear me now
Young sons and daughters
From the edge, I say to you
Better try, to find your voices
Or your dreams, will slip right through
