They wore triangles, not stars. Pink was for homosexuals, yellow for Jews. Mentally handicapped was black. In addition to color-coding, some groups had to put letter insignia on their triangles to denote country of origin.

that's in part a semantic argument. definite, the literal which technique of holocaust is as defined, and is regularly used in that experience. Holocaust (capital H) refers back to the organised mass killings by utilising the Nazis - that's a named adventure. that's easy to have activities given suited names of person-friendly nouns, so not something new there. Metaphor turns into call. The dogma of this is there to a pair quantity; if I deny the Earth is around, i'm in a well mannered way skipped over as a innocuous crackpot. If I deny the Holocaust, i'm lambasted as a monster verging on evil. i think of that's merely political correctness in its modern state; that's much less contentious to disclaim the Armenian Genocide, as an occasion, even nonetheless the data is likewise overwhelming. In some countries that's relatively unlawful to disclaim the Holocaust. those countries are regularly those the place there became a threat of persevered Nazi sympathies after the conflict. despite the fact that, that's now somewhat an prolonged time in the past; such criminal regulations are actually a lot greater in all likelihood to feed into the claims of those deniers who declare that's a central authority-led conspiracy. The data for the Holocaust is overwhelming, yet some human beings nonetheless think of it desires particular criminal defence. i think of you're able to desire to call that dogma.

I took a Holocaust class my Senior year of High School and i absolutely loved it! It was interesting to learn what all those people suffered through and i love learning about it...
Yellow - Jew
Brown - Gypsy
Violet - Jehovah's Witness
Pink - Homosexual
Green - Habitual criminal
Red - Political prisoner
Black - Anti-social
Blue – Emigrant
The word Blod on a black triangle marked mentally retarded inmates, and a red and white target symbol set apart those who had tried to escape. So, the mental people had to wear the black badge.
Persons with Physical or Mental Disabilities~
These people never were assigned a badge because they were rarely sent to concentration camps. Persons with physical or mental disabilities threatened the Nazi plan for human "perfection."
In 1934, forced sterilization programs sterilized 300,000 - 400,000 people, mainly those in mental hospitals and other institutions. Propaganda was distributed which helped build public support for these government policies. Persons who were mentally ill or physically disabled were stigmatized, while the costs of care were emphasized in propaganda campaigns.
In 1939, a Nazi "euthanasia program" began. This term is used as a euphemism for the Nazi plan to murder those with physical or mental defects. Unlike the sterilization program, the "euthanasia" program was conducted in secrecy. "Operation T4" was the code term used to designate this killing project.
As word leaked out about the "euthanasia" program, some church leaders, parents of victims, physicians, and judges protested the killings. Hitler ordered the end of Operation T4 in August 1941. However, the murders continued in a decentralized manner. Doctors were encouraged to kill patients with disabilities by starvation, poisoning, or injection.

All concentration camp inmates had color coded badges to identify their prisoner status within the camp. Refer to this (accurate) Wiki article on this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_concentration_camp_badges
Non-Jewish inmates wore triangles, the Jews wore 2 triangles, one inverted on another, to make a Star of David.
Looks like the mentally retarded wore black triangles.
The mentally retarded were the first to suffer under the genocide of the undesirables under Nazism. Action T-4 ( so called for “Tiergartenstraße 4”, the address of a villa in the Berlin borough of Tiergarten which was the headquarters of the General Foundation for Welfare and Institutional Care) killed between 100K and 250K mentally retarded inmates of German asylums.

Actually, I don't think stars were just for jews, different groups such as homosexuals and gypsies got different color indicators. But mentally handicapped were usually a group like this and might be experimented on by nazi doctors.
