Why can't people see that the meaning of life is what YOU make of it? So many people are living but not truly EXPERIENCING life. Is the lack of experiencing life why people ask this question so much? Or is it because life is truly unknown to them?

I want to get my sister a few good reads. She is turning 22. I know she has read and loved, Atlas Shrugged, A tale of two cities, The Davinci Code...
She loves philosphy, and classic books written years ago.
I'm her younger sister, and I need to get her something good... A list of suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

In my class each week we have to read a group of chapters and present two of the ones we read in an interesting way. The first week I made a trivia board presentation game for my class to play. The second week I made cupcakes with trivia questions in the bottom of each cupcake and my class raced to eat their cupcakes and answered trivia questions. This week I dont have a clue what to do! What's a good presentation idea?

Does Amanda really love her children or is she just using them? I just read the play and wondered what others opinions are.

I had to write a paper using two opposite moral theories. The scenario is as follows:

A car manufacturer has found a mistake with its brake pads. The mistake causes the brakes to malfunction once in a great while. In fact [no more than] 15 people have died. It will be cheaper for the automaker to cover up the incident and pay off any lawsuits that arise in the process. Which two moral theories do you choose?

I chose egoism (the manufacturer) vs. altruism (my belief). Which do you choose?

I always wonder "what if s/he hadn't done that, would s/he have found the courage or luck or strength to get past what ever was making her/him so sad, and would s/he have been able to live a live that s/he would have considered tolerable and normal?" What you you think? Is talking people out of doing away with themselves enough to get them motivated enough to fix what's broken, or are they better off?

its called skepticism or solipsism. but they both are basicaly stating the whole matrix thing.

but people say that you can never truly know that your life is real. and that there is no true evidence. however there are many philosophies and books that show that external world scepticism such as the matrix idea is actualy a self defeating and self refuting idea. example of arguments are things like the private language argument and stuff like that. there is even a book about the matrix and matrix philosophy that show that its self refuting. and if the matrix theory is wrong then so is solipsism ans skepticism.

so with this in mind showing that these concepts are not only highly unlikely, but also self refuting how can it be said that we can never truly know? is it because we can never experiece what other people are and you can only be you? why is it deemed as something humans can never truly know?
