Well I know you are very, very special. I know our mutual friend and your True Love-Lust is very, very special. You have told me your Mammy is very, very special. We all say we Love each other all the time. If you are asking Me if the human race is really all that special I would have to say Dam straight. We are just as special as the things around us. Like the stars in the night sky. The pets we cherish. The roses we smell. All things are truly special. But ... Nothing is more special than sharing LIFE with the humans You truly Love. :0) :0) :0)

We have been led to believe in the last century that we are just a more evolved animal. This kind of thinking has had devastating effects on the behavior of man; because what we think of ourselves is how we act. So we have transformed the world into a jungle with the same rules of the jungle.
We need to reach rationally, the conclusion that we are a superior form of life, infinitely superior in potential to animals.
This quote resumes in a poetic and metaphoric way what would be best for us individually and collectively as human beings to think of ourselves.

O MY FRIEND!
Thou art the daystar of the heavens of My holiness, let not the defilement of the world eclipse thy splendor. Rend asunder the veil of heedlessness, that from behind the clouds thou mayest emerge resplendent and array all things with the apparel of life.

It's difficult to judge outside of ourselves, because we don't have any way to communicate fully with other species. This means that we, as humans, only have the key to understand ourselves in any real depth.

With that caveat, I think there is something particularly interesting in the idea of human consciousness. We are aware that we exist, that we grow, and that we die. It is this particular part of ourselves that we find almost unique (at least on earth). There is no other species (at least that we understand) with the breadth and sophistication of our own consciousness. (This doesn't mean that such species don't exist, but we haven't seen any in our world that approach us in the subtly of our own self-awareness.) The constellation of traits that make up our consciousness is what makes humans different than any other species.

For example, a few other animals (notably elephants) appear to have an awareness that they are looking in a mirror. Many species (like dogs and cats) don't appear to have this awareness. . . . So we know that we are almost alone in our consciousness of our own reflections.

And that self-awareness has combined with our ability to pass on information and our penchant for innovation and our curiosity (all of which I see as facets of our unique human consciousness). This combination of traits has allowed us to create tools and structures of sophistication that no other species has approached -- a bee may create wax, a spider a web, and chimpanzees may use straws to extract ants from an anthill -- but only humans have created things like computers and automobiles.

The downside is that we've also done a lot of damage, through the same human consciousness that created our human society.

Still, for better or worse, human consciousness has had an extraordinary impact on our planet.

There really is no answer more simple than the one I am about to give you.
NO.

The human race has just given everything else a meaning. Humans have diverted the thing from nature to bring to attention the use that it has dubbed said thing. (i.e. animals into pets or slaves, trees into paper and furniture, etc.) thus bringing the Greek quote to life. "Man is the Measure of All Things."

Yes it is. nature, which basically mean the bounty of the earth, was created for us to use. Yes, some people misuse it, we all know that. It is becoming common for people not to believe that in themselves, that we are 'special", most of all in the eyes of God, and if you are not neither is the next guy, judging by the number of murders rapes and kiddy grabbings.

Yes we are- but we have to change all the time to deal with the choices we've made~ like living life in a way to benefit your children. We are made in the image of God and I'm glad he is stable.

No we are not. We are the biggest cowards. Just think about it, our main focus is to invent and improve weapons to kill each other and, more than that we continue to destroy as many animals, plants and other live beings as we can.

What the hell is special about us!!!!

Animals are smarter and braver than us.

Come on, I don't understand your question, really.
You have to give some more details, explain where you're coming from or where this is leading to, something....

Honest.

Peace!!
