I want to get my sister a few good reads. She is turning 22. I know she has read and loved, Atlas Shrugged, A tale of two cities, The Davinci Code...
She loves philosphy, and classic books written years ago.
I'm her younger sister, and I need to get her something good... A list of suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

For an avid reader I recommend:
Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason by Nancy Pearl
a great resource for finding books to read (and a fun one).

Alternatively, she might enjoy:
The Western Canon: The Books and School of the Ages
by Harold Bloom

Has she read The Fountainhead? Fabulous book. There is also a beautiful illustrated edition of both The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown - with photos of the actual places in the story. Its more expensive than the plain one, but it is special and beautiful. She may enjoy being able to see the places mentioned as well as the artwork. Pax - C.

One of Ms Rand's favourite novels was '93' by Victor Hugo.
Otherwise: The Count of Monte Christo; The Call of the Wild; The Sea Wolf; Ivanhoe; Beau Geste; Les Miserables; Notre Dame of Paris

DON'T buy her the video 'The Passion of Ayn Rand'

but you could get her a date with a fellow Randoid on

If she is follower of Ayn Rand's thought, get her nothing, and then let her strive to overcome her disappointment.

Get her nothing. Tell her you're selfish. As a Randian she'll appreciate that.
