that you need to know about?

what if the people on yahoo come up with contradictions to your information that you received through your book? i am doing a report on a subject in philosophy and it seems as though the people on yahoo know everything and come up with contradictions to ideas against credible information.

so then whos information would you find more valid? the book/information, or the opinions and contradictions on yahoo?

Very possibly the subject you are reporting on is subject to varied opinions and although some of the information you found is written in a book it is not a cast iron fact that rules out other opinions. What you might want to do is take the information in the book and contrast it against the answers you have gotten on Yahoo.

I would take into account the contradictions and read more than one book. If you use Answers your using more than one source. Your using a variety of people. Why use just one book? If that one book was written by one author, where did he receive his information? Who did he consult? If he consulted someone, are they a credible source? Obviously you would have to ask the same questions to the sources on yahoo. I would dig and find information on both sources and then choose who's opinion was more creditable in my personal opinion. Good luck on your paper!

'If I am doing a research on something that is important like philosophy I will get the info from the books, written by a man who has a doctorate on that subjects ,mans opinion in yahoo is alright and I bet he reads that from books too. I always use my intelligent to evaluate matters. Most people from Yahoo Answers contributed their answer through their experiences and expertise's on their careers. And I respect that...

The answers are great because they come up with people opinions giving you an insight from another point of view however a book is just writing and reading and so will not let you use your imagination. A lot of the good stuff we get on answers should be put in books.

It depends on who the answerer or the book is. If the answerer is saying a lot of stuff that makes sense, then I'll have the tendency to choose the answerer over the book.

However, most of the time, I will choose a book, because I can read it and know that the author's work is his own or attributed to the right person.

I'd overall rather trust a book because sometimes the answer on yahoo answers could be biased or just purely their own opinion. Whilst a book you don't get that so often unless they actually say it's there opinion or theory, so you know it will be fact rather than an opinionated answer.

The point of this site is to get simple answers and opinions from people. If you need solid information for a paper or something, go to a valid source, not random people. Not that the answers here arent valid, its just very simple and not as in depth as youd want for a report.

Good luck
