Who wrote a short story that is about a woman walking through a deserted city? As she walks she hears a sound that gets louder and louder and in the end it turns out to be a dripping faucet. Any info re the author or story title or what book collection/anthology the story is in would be a big help. Thanks.

I'd like a zombie book. I have never read a zombie book, but would love something along the lines of a Romero film. I do not want to read a "novelisation" of a movie I have seen already. It's Monday, I leave thursday. Please help.

Was Clive in either "Raise the Titanic" or "Sahara"? he seems to love to write himself into his stories so made me wonder.

I've noticed in a lot of the books ive read of his, he puts himself in the book.. In Sahara Dirk and Al are out in the desert having a campfire when Clive as a hermit searching for the Texas comes upon them and tells them of the ship (unlike the movie).

Or in one of his newest, Clive is a bus driver for a temple in Mongolia.

My sister thinks he has put himself in every book in some way. Is this true?

Does anyone know the source of this quotation. At first I thought it was from the Great Gatsby but I've almost ruled that out. Keep in mind, I'm paraphrasing and may have the wording off.
Thanks!
