I'd like a zombie book. I have never read a zombie book, but would love something along the lines of a Romero film. I do not want to read a "novelisation" of a movie I have seen already. It's Monday, I leave thursday. Please help.

I appreciate the answer... but I am traveling. I don't want to read about traveling if I am traveling, I want to keep my mind off of it. Again, thank you anyways.

Don't know any modern stuff but Dracula by Bram Stoker is excellent and a fairly long book. Plus you'll have had a chance to read some great literature.

Since you would be traveling James Michener wrote a book about students who traveled togther in like 1968 or so. I can not think of the books name anymore, but if you go into the library in Minneapolis they will know. Also a good one is Jack Kerouac's book On The Road. The library would also have this, although it may be in achives. Either one are good to read while you are traveling. Sorry they don't mention zombies, I am sure once you get to California you will find a few of them.

Don't know about zombies, but a lot of people enjoy the stories of HP Lovecraft.

I've always been keen on the classics like Frankenstein, Dracula...old Sherlock Holmes mysteries. HG Wells and even Herman Hesse...Aldous Huxley...Arthur C Clarke...are great for the time killer reading too.

Go with Max Brooks! You'll have a blast reading A-Z or Survival Guide.

Or you can go with Stephen King's novel, "Cell" in which the virus people get basically turns them into zombie-like creatures.

I think you should take adventurous books like Lord of the Rings but I'm not sure whats your age or type in books. I'm 18 yrs old and I would read books with series like Chronicles of Narnia, Eragon(also Eldest), Harry Potter, or maybe A Series of Unfortunate Events. Pick one but not sure if they fit your type in books. I think they are great and anyone can read them.

max brooks has written a couple of zombie books....The Zombie Survival Guide, and another called World War Z: An oral history of the Zombie War....they are sort of tongue in cheek stories....not to be taken entirely seriously...
