literary quotation source: "How did you lose your money, Mr X? At first slowly and then all at once."

Does anyone know the source of this quotation. At first I thought it was from the Great Gatsby but I've almost ruled that out. Keep in mind, I'm paraphrasing and may have the wording off.

Sorry, I don't remember if it was in a book or which one, but "Slowly, then all at once" is from Hemingway.
