I've noticed in a lot of the books ive read of his, he puts himself in the book.. In Sahara Dirk and Al are out in the desert having a campfire when Clive as a hermit searching for the Texas comes upon them and tells them of the ship (unlike the movie).

Or in one of his newest, Clive is a bus driver for a temple in Mongolia.

My sister thinks he has put himself in every book in some way. Is this true?

He was in Atlantis Found. I don't remeber him in Valhalla Rising.
He was Also In Trojan Odyssey.
He dose not appear in every book. I think Sahara was the first book he appeared in, but not sure.

I have read all the Dirk Pitt novels except the most recent 2 and he puts himself in each book as a nice guy who helps them out in a pinch. I think its kind of cool. Its funny too becuase he always looks familiar to Dirk and Al but they never quite put it together that he is alwasy helping them out. Its done very tongue in cheek.

Yes - in either all or almost all of his books he does. In many of them he seems familiar to Dirk... LOL In one or two, they even remember meeting before!

Incidentally, Clive is semi-retired now from writing, and spends more time with the real NUMA, researching shipwrecks. In his lates books, Dirk's son - Dirk Junior - has now taken over, and Dirk is running NUMA. In real life, Clive's real son Dirk is now writing the books!

Yes, Clive Cussler does put himself in every book that he writes. I find it very entertaining because I'm like, I know who that guy is, and then I see the author's name and I realize that's who he is. I love it, although others may find it annoying.

*Chuckle*!!!! So you've caught him out, have you!!! He does exactly the same as Alfred Hitchock had done in his movies: Hitchock always cast himself in a small cameo part in his own movies!! I find it quite intriging!!!
(PS: I didn't know the snippet about Clive real son Dirk ?? now writing the books - that is an interesting bit of newsworthiness!!!!)

i think it is great that he does that. just like Hitchcock putting himself into a scene in his movies, and Chris Van Allsburg putting the pit bull dog in all of his books.

I think it is a great "trick" and love trying to spot where they are.
