Who wrote a short story that is about a woman walking through a deserted city? As she walks she hears a sound that gets louder and louder and in the end it turns out to be a dripping faucet. Any info re the author or story title or what book collection/anthology the story is in would be a big help. Thanks.

it does not sound familiar to me, either, but could be a Kate Wilhelm story, or maybe Heinlein or Bradbury.

robotic desires by Isaac Asimov - it truly is a variety of of a few of his short thoughts. in case you've in no way heard of him, he's written endless sci-fi books and doubtless extra effective favourite to a youthful era as writing the fast thoughts/idea behind the movie, I, robotic.
